C91 Calls from the Wild Collection

For this tag you will need:

Conservation paper C91 002

Stencil DS 061 C91 range

Chipboard die-cut BIG 5 DC91 002

Chipboard die-cut AFRICA continent outline DC91 010

Scrap strips of other C91 papers

Other: clear gesso, white gesso, texture paste, black Archival ink, bubble wrap (used as stamp), Kaisercraft texture stamp, green and orange gouache paint, Finnabair rust pastes, black gel pen, glue, hot glue gun, mulberry flowers

Instructions:

STEP 1:

From Conservation paper C91 002, cut out cut out a desired size tag (this will be your base) and a smaller tag that you will glue onto the base tag. I traced the original tag on the paper and then cut it 2mm from the inside line. This is your first layer.

STEP 2:

With black pen, draw a frame around the edges of both tags; distress the edges using a distress tool or scissors. Glue them together so that you create your first layer and a base for the tag.

STEP 3:

Stamp out various designs using the bubble wrap and a texture stamp. Cover it with a layer of clear gesso.

STEP 4:

Using green and orange paint, add some colour to the background. Once mostly dry, using Stencil DS 061 C91 range and texture paste, make ‘paw prints’ on the background.

STEP 5:

Time to colour the chipboards:

Chipboard die-cut BIG 5 DC91 002 – first layer base with white gesso, then half green and half orange using the same paints you used for the background.

Chipboard die-cut AFRICA continent outline DC91 010 – with palette knife spread the orange rust paste all over the chipboard, then add res rust paste on the edges. This will create additional layers of texture.

Leave to dry.

STEP 6:

Using random paper scraps of the C91 collection, build a small paper cluster – I outlined the straight edges of the papers and left the torn off edges plain.

STEP 7:

Time to start assembling the layers (I used hot glue for that):

Place the paper cluster in the lower half of the tag, it is ok if it’s sticking out a bit as you want all the elements to be still visible. On top but more to the left, attach the Africa outline chipboard; again, it will be sticking out a bit. On top and more to the centre, add the BIG5 chippie. Make sure you arrange them ‘dry’ before adding glue, that way you will be able to more-or-less know which element goes where.

STEP 8:

Add flowers and leafs.

Your tag is ready!
